Since 2013, Prof. Martin Faulstich has held the Chair of Environmental and Energy Engineering at the Clausthal University of Technology. Prior to that, he held the Chair of Ressource and Energy Technology at the Technical University of Munich. He has also worked as a visiting professor, teaching and researching at several universities. He has many years of experience in realigning and founding research centres. These include restructuring a long-established steel research institution in Sulzbach-Rosenberg and founding the Science
Centre in Straubing.

Martin Faulstich was initially a member and, from 2008 to 2016, Chairman of the German Advisory Council on the Environment in Berlin, which provided decisive impetus for decisions on the energy transformation and so-called raw material shift.

Professor Faulstich is also active in reputable institutions; as Co-Chairman of the German Environment Agency, as member of the Board of Trustees of the Daimler and Benz Foundation and of the Ifo Institute for Economic Research, as Scientific Advisor of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, as a member of the Executive Committee of the German Association for Waste Management, as Vice-Chairman of the CEC4EUROPE Circular Economy Coalition for Europe and as Vice-Chairman of the VDI Centre for Resource Efficiency.
